The Chilean company develops textiles through the creation of technical copper yarns.
After two months of intense work, a study conducted at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bern, Switzerland, demonstrated that the technology of The Copper Company—a Chilean company that develops textiles through the creation of technical copper yarns—displays antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2, achieving an 84.6% reduction after 5 minutes of exposure and a 95% reduction after 2 hours of exposure.
With this, the company's designer and general manager, Luz Briceño, confirms that the nanotechnological finishing processes that complement the antibacterial properties of clothing and medical materials are effective against the coronavirus.
With this certification, they seek to further expand their market and, to this end, they are working with groups of engineers, infectious disease specialists, nanotechnologists, entomologists, and biotechnologists from various universities and laboratories seeking to differentiate themselves through the use of copper and the exploitation of its diverse properties.
